A MESSAGE FROM DR. KEN WILLIAMS

As a father, grandfather, and primary care physician, I have always believed in serving my community to preserve freedoms and liberties for our children and families by supporting a strong public education system. I was elected to the Orange County Board of Education in 1996, and I am running for re-election once again on the same principles and governance positions that make public schools and families strong. Our children cannot afford to elect any woke left-of-center University professor that is out of touch with our district’s viewpoints and values on the OC Board of Education. Unlike my opponent, I support parental rights, and the original intentions of our founding fathers in creating the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Keeping our students safe at school is my top priority. Using my experience as a sworn reserve law enforcement officer with the Orange County Sheriffs Department, I have joined with the Sheriff’s Department to enhance school safety and fight bullying. Our county board recently sponsored a School Safety Forum to inform parents on safety related concerns that instructs students, parents, teachers and staff on keeping our school children safe.

I am parent of four sons and thirteen grandchildren. I believe in the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children. Parents are the greatest support system for their children. Parents and teachers should be allies in our student’s education, and should never be treated as the enemy by left-leaning progressive university professors, politicians, school administrators, and union activists. We need parents and teachers to have a clear line of communication without hiding truths from parents about their own child. We accomplish much more if we work together to create student success. This is why I stand with parents.

Because of COVID lockdowns and government overreach by certain state and local officials, student have lost academic seat time and acquisition of facts and knowledge. We have lost two years of schooling and our test scores reflect such intellectual injury. We must keep social engineering and woke politics out of our classrooms. We need to get “back to basics” in education and inculcate facts and knowledge, and critical thinking skills rather than political indoctrination.
